The Law of Detachment
We continue to move through The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra with this month's focus on The Law of Detachment. For many of us this can be a difficult one to master, or even understand. Luckily, we have a whole 31 days to ponder, question, or even struggle with it. If the first five laws are setting the stage and planting our desires/intentions, this law is the fertilizer (the magic bullet.) It asks of us to develop or maturate faith and build comfort in uncertainty!
Detachment is based on the unquestioning belief in the power of the True Self (faith,) while attachment is based on fear and insecurity. The need for security is based on not knowing our True Self and leads to feelings of emptiness, separateness and loneliness. We then try to fill the void with symbols like money, success, adulation. A cycle is born where we start to believe that we are these things, yet the more we attain them the emptiness, loneliness and void still exists. Attachment is born from a consciousness of poverty where we become attached to these symbols. Detachment is born of wealth consciousness where we feel the freedom to create at any given moment.
Once we discover our sense of Faith, we can rest comfortable in the wisdom of insecurity or the wisdom of uncertainty. It is a place where all things are possible, and we are firmly united with the power of creativity. Uncertainty is a fertile ground of pure creativity and freedom. This month learn to step into uncertainty freely, be ready to explore the freshness and CREATE! From Deepak, “Allow every moment of your life to become fun, adventurous and full of mysteries… When your preparedness meets opportunity, the solution will spontaneously appear.” Some may call this “good luck” and we call it our practice.
In applying the Law or Detachment consider these 3 things.
1. Commit Yourself to Detachment. Awaken in any given moment to letting go.
2. Factor in Uncertainty as part of your daily awareness. Breathe into it a find the wisdom that pulsates in it.
3. Step into the field of all possibilities and anticipate the excitement.
Get ready for the fun, adventure, magic and mystery of life.
